Moon

A friend of mine in the neighbourhood brought my attention to the fabled “supermoon” last summer. Since that time, I have been struggling to capture a decent image of the Earth’s tag-along. I began with images of the full moon – but sadly, the details of the surface were hard to resolve due to the brightness. Then, another photographer friend of mine showed me images of the moon when it wasn’t full. The shadows did a lot of the work, making the moon look much more textured thanks to the way that the light played off of the surface. Since that time, I have acquired an extender to help me focus on this elusive friend in the sky. I think this one turned out rather well.

Maybe next time I’ll think of a more artsy title.
