Another photo from the trip to Kingston in November, 2004. This forlorn fire hydrant caught my eye. It sat, dejected, in the middle of a construction site. Sometimes an object cries out in a human way, telling a story of happiness or woe. This hydrant had most likely stood vigil for a long, long time. Maybe it was never used, but it certainly made a lot of people feel safer.
A new coat of paint would probably change the feeling.
