The local school holds an annual Halloween pumpkin carving night each October. A good chunk of the neighbourhood comes out to participate. Kids and parents alike wield carving tools and create some spectacular Jack O’ Lanterns. At the end of the night, the carved pumpkins are all lined up, lit candles are placed within each one, and the lights are doused. It’s a magical moment that is best seen through the reflections in the eyes of children.
