One of the ladies at the concierge desk at the Grand Hyatt in San Francisco told a story about how people’s parrots got loose ages ago and mated, creating a wild local population of exotic birds. On one of our hikes, we took Vallejo St to the end and walked down a path to Taylor St. As we did so, we heard the distinct squawk of parrots and looked up – the trees around us were full of them. They were too busy feeding to really notice us, so I took the opportunity to shoot with a longer lens to get closer.
