A few years ago, on my way to pick up my daughter from school, I spotted a strange sight in the school’s front garden: green bees. I thought that this was some secret government plot to take over the world – but I was mistaken, of course. I read up on them after I saw them and found out that they are “sweat bees”, and they have been around for a long time. Their distinct coloring is nice to look at – and their mobility (like all bees) makes them a challenge to shoot. I bemoaned the fact that I didn’t see any the year after – but was delighted when they made a return to our new-and-improved garden. This is one of a set that I took during a nice summer day.
